Dr. Alison Thompson is the 2021 recipient of the Montréal Medal! She'll be at #IUPAC2021 to give her plenary lecture.

The Montréal Medal/Médaille de Montréal is presented as a mark of distinction and honour to a resident of Canada who has shown significant leadership in or has made an outstanding contribution to the profession of chemistry or chemical engineering in Canada.


December 2020

Congratulations to Dr. Alison Thompson on her Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Pyrrole Chemistry for Chemical Biology and Energy!

Pyrrole is an attractive component of materials used in studying and treating disease and in the use of light to generate responses that report sensing or enable storage/delivery of energy. Dr. Thompson’s research includes the development of sensors to monitor glucose levels in humans, or air-stable enzymes involved in biosynthesis and of materials for redox-flow batteries.

Dr. Alison Thompson received the 2019 AAU Regional Award for Excellence in Teaching and Educational Leadership from the Association of Atlantic Universities in New Brunswick.

The purpose of the AAU awards program is to encourage excellence in teaching and instructional leadership in the universities of the Atlantic region by acknowledging those individuals who exemplify such excellence and those who contribute more generally to the improvement of the quality of university teaching.
